yes they probably would, but I would be going and having a look and see how the owner interacts with them first them see how they interact with you...........before i bought them. If they are tame then you will know and that is a good start.........if they are not tame...........and you want a tame bird/s then don't get them it might be too hard to tame them down to pets especially if they are bonded to each other. If these are not the "right" ones for you...........don't rush into it..........the right bird/s are just around the corner.

alexandrines can live for up to about 40 years. They are not scratchy feely birds..........but Takoda does love some luvin from his mummy ( ;D ) me. LOL He allows me to scratch him and rub his head and he does rub his head on my cheeks and preens my hair. Shrekie.........likes to sit on your shoulder......and might allow a quick pat.........but otherwise don't touch the merchandise please. LOL They can talk very well, and are apparently very intelligent. Takoda can say Hello (although i havent' heard it again lately) and can wolf whistle really well and is trying to say other things now too.

They aren't really touchy feely either Phil and can be quite nippy. If you want an affectionate bird how about a cockatiel, rainbow lorikeet or sun conure though the last 2 can be quite noisy sometimes.

yes i have had tiels all my life and although i find them very affectionate i think that maybe it is time for a change now i have heared alot of differnt things about rainbow loorikeets becuase they can be very nippy and change moods very quickly. i have always had in mind a sun conure but they are so expensive!!! like $800 for a hand reared. i was thinking a green cheek conure as i have heared they are extremely affectionate but im not sure i really want a affectionate friendly bird that is why i was thinking of a too but now im not sure....

Where do you live? That seems quite expensive for a hr sunny. Green cheeky are apparently fantastic little birds, I can't tell you from experience as we aren't allowed to have them over here in the west.

I agree, that is twice what you'd pay in Qld for a hr sunny. It might pay to shop around abit.

Gee Jane where do you get your handraised sunny's from. The two breeders i know of here charge around $500 - $600 for a handraised baby. They are very pretty birds.........but too loud for me. Phil. Why do you have to have the bird right now?? Why don't you do some research and find a breeder of a cockatoo or galah and order a baby pay a deposit, then just keep reading and preparing for the baby to come home?? You could buy a cage and toys and just have everything ready for the baby to come home. I did that with Takoda..........I knew I wanted a male alexandrine but needed to find a breeder who dna'd them. i did that and then ordered a baby...............and had to wait patiently for him to be ready..........about 10 months later ;D

Well can't say I've bought one but I was taking an educated guess as a petlink addict I see heaps of ads for them, also in the Weekend Shopper on saturday. At the moment there are quite a few $450 in Qld, hr and dna'd.

Wow Jane that surely sounds cheap to me. Maybe they have dropped a bit in price since I heard about them a couple of years ago.

Quite a few bonded, unrelated pairs of mature, breeding-aged sun conures were unsold at the Orange Bird Sale just this past Saturday, on 3rd March 2007...at $800 per pair. However, I can't say whether these birds were originally handraised or not.
Cheers, Andrew
