Hi. I have a couple of questions. I have recently purchased an opaline (fiery red) rosella, but upon closer inspection, under his red feathers, he ios yellow rather than white like his mate. Could he be split lutino?? Also, my Lutino cock bird has just moulted and started getting red spots around his shoulders that he didn't have before. Could he be split opaline?? Thanks for any help. Karen

Karen Not bieng an expert on Rosella's Karen, in fact I'm not an expert on anything, I can only offer an opinion based on other birds. The yellow feathers are part of the colour mutation as the Opaline colour is red and yellow. The red spots on your Lutino says to me that it's father was indeed an Opaline and this is the cock birds colouration coming through, I have the same showing on my Lutino Red Rump hens and her father was an Opaline.
