My pet galah has got a lot of fine feather dust on him more than the other galahs I know have. I seem to notice it more when I am wearing black and can I feel it on my fingers when I hold him. When I was holding a friends pet galah it didn't seem to have as much feather dust. Why does my galah 'Mango' have so much feather dust? I haven't been able to take him inside for this reason because when he flaps his wings it goes everywhere and because he is moulting.

Moulting time is one reason also you will find during humid weather.... for there is too much mosture in the air, thus not allow dust to fall and when it dry's up, there is excess dust for most birds shed dust everyday.. Try also a good bath on a dry day this will help,Birdie the Galah had this were the feathers felt oily..after a good bath you could see in her attitude she was rapt

Would spraying him with water work the same way as my galah has never bathed before?

Don't think so... for you have to get inside the down feathers and don't be shocked how dirty the water get's either You don't have to sit there and scrubb, just massage slowly up and down a few times that should be enough. You will find once he is in the water, they won't move and make sure the water is no more than half way it's size.Allow a natural dry in a "draft free area" for if it's not warm enough (at least 30% degrees) people put fans on and they can get a chile "so to speak" ..
