Yeahhh yesterday we went down to this park .... and found the trees ... not many with the nut bud things on them tho ... I know the ex owner of jacko use to give them to him ... but i'm not 100% sure ... specially without knowing whats been sprayed on them etc .... Yeahhh he'd probably let Jimmy craddle him .... but Jim is still building up his confidence with Jacko ... But i must say Jacko is still a pleasure to have part of the family

Jetta has learned to screech in the mornings so I think I will move her into another room. Paulie is screeching like her, so itslike having two black toos in the house lol.
you sound like you are more at ease with having jacko which is great to see. You shouldve seen me lol when I first got Jetta. Thankfully my breeder was good and answered all my questions. Also sounds like Jimmy is forming a bond with Jacko which is great also.

yeahhh we are both getting more use to him now ... the size and learning to trust what he gets up to while sitting on us .... Ahhh your paulie sounds like my lokie (eckie) he screams like my pino (sun conure) its like i have 3 little screaming yellow birds in the house ... I knew Jacko would go for Jim over me .... cause he had been with a male owner for the last 12 months ... but its good .... Jacko gets to come out and i'm still free to do other stuff ... normally i'm the human birdie playpen

Banksia nuts would be good for him. Do you guys have grass trees? I saw about 6 white tailed blacks hanging off a grass tree flower spike a little while back. Don't know if they ate any but they were having a ball.

G'day guys,
Casuarinas are the staple diet of the Glossy Black cockatoos and are also relished by the RTB's. There are heaps of little seeds in each pod, if you find a pod that is closed up, just let it sit for a few days and it will open up and all the little seeds will fall out for you to see. Anyway, just feed the pods as they are and the bird will figure it out eventually. Anything that is in their natural diet would be good as it gives them things to do as there is a bit of work in extracting the seeds. Gum nuts are great and form a large part of the natural diet but can be hard to get as they are often high up in the trees. Other ones are banksias, hakeas, pine cones, even grevillea see pods will be eaten. Just experiment with the native plants that have see pods like the ones mentioned as well as bottle brush and mellalucas and see what they take to. If they don't eat them, they'll probably have fun destroying them!! Cheers
