Hi Anna, i give my birds parsley, usually chopped slightly, mixed in with their 'green' feed about once a week. They love it, especially when i chop it finely and they have to spend time taking it off the other food! I try to give them one new taste a week so i am going to work my way thru my herb garden! Do you know if you can give them things like oregano, thyme, chives etc? I was a bit worried about the chives as i read that onions are bad for birds. I know that the birds like chilli as the wild birds come and take bites out of my chilli's while they are on the plant. I will try the birds on the capsicum seeds, they are not at all fussy and pretty much love anything i give them. Cheers, Sal.

Hi Sal, You can give your birds the flowers from chives but not the plant itself. Look under the Section Re good weeds for birds & you will find a list of flowers that can be safely given to birds are treats. If you are lucky enough, grow some Nasturiums. the birds love the plant & flowers. As to the other question I had a really good site on other herbs that you can safely give your birds, but I lost it. Will be doing more reserch, so will post it as soon as I can. So please wait to then. Cheers for now Anna

Thanks Tony, but have to confess I cheated a bit. I have most of my info on word documents so it is easier to cut & paste. Some of the info also comes from some good sites I go to so can't take all the credit so i am dobbing myself in. ;D but the info is there on how to keep our birds healthy & with what nature provides, the better I rekon. I learn something new everyday & use the numerous books on herbs that I've had for donkey's years as references. My biggest problem at the moment is finding time to write things up, due to the breeding season & h/rearing babies. There is never enough time in the day. Cheers for now Anna
