Hi everyone once my parents have finshed building on the house and once i have saved up some money my dad and i are going to build 5 aviaries with a walk in room so my birds can't escape into the wild. I was just wandering what is the best materials to use i saw of one website that he builds his aviaries out of timber and wire.My dad said timber causes dieases in birds. so i'm thinking roof tin and bird wire and poles. Can someone give me a guess on how much it will cost to build an aviary like that.If i buy one like that would cost over $2,000 and my parents think we can build one cheaper then that.My dad built his last aviaries out of bed springs and frames. So if anyone can give me some ideas it would be great photos will be even better.

What kind of aviary do you want to build. My 4 bay suspendeds cost me about $300 - $400 to build myself. I used bird wire and steel poles etc.
Do not use wood because it rots very easily

I did this in paint just to give you an idea of what i want my aviaries to be like a1 and that stands for aviary 1,2,3,4,and 5 and the walk in so i can walk in and close the door and feed and water my birds so if they get out they can't fly away up into a tree i can just get them to go back into there aviary.the aviary isn't going to be really big just enough for 1 pair of each bird in the aviary.

Hi Tara I'm not sure where you live but here in Sydney there is a company that sell square tubing and joiners and bird wire is readily availible in most hardware stores or there are suppliers of of bird wire that sell direct to the public. The tubing is always a better proporsition than wood as wood does need treatment to stop it from rotting.
