I have 1 inside (Rocky the budgie)....everyone else is outside but I'm sure like last season I willl soon enough have a brooder in the kitchen for the chookens and than somewhere else for any princess babies and their brooder.
Last year I had canary and zeb finch babies being hand-raised as well so here is hoping I don't find myself doing that again.

I have large conventional aviaries outside and some suspended cages where I pair them off for breeding from August to Nov/Dec, except the bigger parrots have individual conventionals for breeding time. Would love to have an inside fid but I'm also a cat lover.

mmmm I couldn't vote more than once. I have some inside and some outside on verandah in cages. Hopefully will have some outside very soon. Went to Bunnings to look at the materials to make the aviaries...........so that is a good omen, I reckon.

Well I just got home from picking up my new 3m X 2m X 2m aviary. Its beautifully wired and colourbond. 1/2 and 1/2 roof.
Am going to be sacriligious and divide it into 3 chook breeding pens.
But am hopefully getting another 2 (not as big) as well as some cages next week.
Ohhhhh and it DIDN'T cost me a cent!!! Gotta love freecycle. LOL

Oi nothin wrong with being chook crazy. Some of my guys are extremely tame and it takes every effort not to fall over them as they get under my feet. Have one pullet who is so funny...she actually flies up onto a branch in the aviary as soon as she sees me and sits there awaiting a treat...drives her nuts if she hears me inside and I am actually not going outside, she gets very peeved LOL. Anyway I think my chooks deserve it and seeing as they come to me naturally and were not handraised than that has to be special. Ohhh and who said I would be putting birds in with them anyway? Hmmmmm ROFLMAO

I have a rooster that is going to the Whyalla show in two weeks. My rooster is a weird one I handraised him from an egg. He is now mature, but not mature enough to know a hen between a plastic container

*sticks tongue out at Jane* LOL
I'll always manage to have birds in above the chooks now I have proven itt can be done without any problems. As Rocky is still here I think I will get him a hen and start breeding budgies again once I have moved. His flight feathers seem to be coming back in really quickly atm. Might give him a few nights out in the aviary (in his cage) as I am sure the cool nights will help bring them in even faster.
His certainly a happy chappy...still out in the kitchen chirping away now and the light is off LOL
