My luck is running pretty low right now. Last week I lost my pastelface platinum pied that I bought from Frank at Christmas time. Not sure why but it looks like it may have been a seizure. Then a few days later a darn crow flew into the yard and scared the heck out of the birds. My whiteface cinn pearl pied hen....also another one from Frank.....hit something in her fright which left her breathing hard and wheezing. I caught her and monitored her and she seemed to be improving. 2 days later I came out to find she had also departed this world. I am so sorry Frank that it was both your birds. Please don't think I don't look after them as they were both my pride and joy. I am still shaking my head. Each time I go near the aviary I am almost scared to look now in case another one has met it's doom. Here is a pic of my 2 sweethearts when they fat and happy and still with us. Jo-Anne

Thanks Frank and Bill. Actually Frank it isn't all bad. The wf pied male is now a dad. I have a lovely heavy pearl pied and cinn pearl pied chick from him. He did have 5 fertile eggs but the hen got off the nest one night and the other 3 were DIS in mid development. The 2 chicks I have are lovely so I am keen to see what they grow into. Jo-Anne

Thanks so much everyone for your support. It is so wonderful to be able to have friends who understand how you feel and not just look at you like you are some idiot. I get really tired of hearing the non-avian sector exclaim.'but it's just a bird'. Thanks again you are a wonderful lot. Jo-Anne

Hi Jo-Anne, I am sorry to hear about your babies. I know exactly what you are going through. I am at a loss myself at the moment. All my breeding plans have been dashed. Thinking of you. (Hugs)

I am sorry to hear that Kazz. I know exactly where you are at. I have been waiting for 5 months already for these 2 to grow up and still had a few more months to go until I could kick start my breeding plans but now I am back to square 1!!! Unless of course I can win Lotto and buy some more! It won't replace them though but at least my plans may still work out. Jo-Anne

Yep I hear you Jo. You get all these plans of what you'd like to happen(nature permitting) and then in the blink of an eye....poof gone! Of course it had to be my baby though. She was my best friend, and saw me through one of the toughest phases of my life.....makes it that much worse. It wasn't me that let her out the door either. I feel like throttling someone....but as my mum always says "Accidents happen".
