Sorry Bill, it is so disheartening when that happens. Would it be safer to hand raise the one left! Regards Bev

I feel for you. With our last batch of budgies only one survived. In the end we had it in a shoe box overnight in bed between us on the electric blanket. Melbourne is chilly.

Regards Bev thanks for the kind words everybody dev as a rule (i have been told that i am crazyfor thinking this way )but the first time round i like to leave it up to the perants and basicly let let them use it as a learning experance so i have to fight the temptation to pull the babies and hand rear them regards bill

I know what you are going through, i lost one of my baby Peachies i was handraising last night.

Hi Bill, To be honest with you mate I cant think of any reason other than mutilation by the parents for pulling babies from first time parents. I have been breeding birds for a lot of years now, and i can count on one hand the number of babies i have hand raised. I also know that this is a very emotive subject and lots of breeders do hand raise, and for good reasons, but I find that handling the babies daily makes them nice and tame.

Hi Bill, I am so sorry to hear that you have lost some of your babies. The weather here in Adelaide has been wicked, so I can imagine what it has been like there. At least you can count your blessings that at least one baby has survived. Hope everything goes well for you with the rest of your babies that you have. Regards Anna
