We lost yet another budgie today (that's 4 in as many months I think).
I went out this afternoon and she was laying on her back on the bottom of the cage, still alive at this stage. I put her in a tissue box of her own and bought her inside. She died about 2 hours later I think. It looks like she's had bad diarrohea or something (she has a yucky bottom). Now I'll treat the other birds with this stuff I had when Fluffy died. It's funny, nothing has changed, the diet is the same, maybe she got a fright or something and was in shock, I suppose I'll never know.

Oh that is so sad to hear that you have lost another budgie. Seems like you might have some virus going around in the aviary & I would definitely be treating the others. Hope things look up for you soon with your budgies. Cheers Anna

I know it is disappointing when they die. It does sound like you have a viral or bacterial problem. What product did you use before? That was happening to me this time last year, every 3/4 weeks I would lose one (several different species). They had terrible diarrohea. It was so hard watching them die, I would rather not have them if that is happening. Finally I took my Eastern Rosella to the vet. It was the best thing I could have done. He suspected Psittacosis and kept her there and gave me medicine to treat the others with. Since then I have only lost a couple of birds from different ailments.

I had one of my hens die a couple of weeks ago too. She wasn't a breeder, but it's still worrying. I'm just interested to know what medication you use for it, Squizy, and others.

I use Psittavet in the drinking water when my birds are sick, especially if they are showing symptoms of diarrohea. It is important to isolate the sick bird and then use it in the aviary as well. It can also be used for other ailments as well. If I suspect anything going around the aviary I will use it for at least a week.

Thanks Laraine, I've made a note of it.
