I have posted this here for Trebro as asked.
G'day Everyone, This is my first post as I only joined today although I have been visiting here on a regular basis as a guest, I have just lost my little Lovebird Saffy which we believe was from a spider bite, although only being 5 months old Saffy had the run of the house and would go anywhere and everywhere she wanted. I came home one evening and found her in her cage with cobwebs and a wet black looking mark on the back of her head but was her usual self, she seemed fine the next morning so there was no real concern as a spider bite was not even thought of. I came home during the morning to see that she was ok but to my horror found she had passed away, I was absolutely devastated and did get very upset, I never thought that such a lovely little bird would have such an impact on a person in their 50's, we had a Avian Vet look at her and said her weight and condition etc was spot on and no visible sign of any problems, he concluded that it was a spider bite and speaking to Lovebird breeders it is uncommon but has been a reality. Saffy had such a profound effect on me that I have decided to get myself an aviary and more lovebirds not to breed but just to enjoy them such is the effect that little Saffy had on me. Trebro
