The GreenCheeked Conures have a great potential to be more popular, than they already are,Tracy. This is because, while they are not as preety as most conures, they are also not as noisy. Therefore far more likely to be kept in urban areas. best Robert and Angel

Actually Robert I happen to think the greencheeks are very pretty. I guess it is just a matter of taste. I like the green/black and maroon colours on them. ;D

Green cheeks are far more striking in person, photo's just don't do them justice, IMO. I never thought they were pretty until I met Jedidah. xD

I will agree there are prettier conures like the sun conures, but the greencheeks are pretty too. ;D

I have just bought my first Green Cheek Conure and am hoping to get more. I know about the Sun Conure, but are there any others?

I think green cheeks are prettier than suns, thats me though. They have irredescent feathers and thier scale feathers on the front are so pretty when they puff up. The green, blue and maroon are just beautiful and their dark head makes their eyes stand out. Suns are too bright for me lol. There are lots of other conures. Green cheeks are part of the pyrrhura conure family (quieter). They include green cheeks, maroon bellied, pearly, crimson bellied, painted, black capped and more (includes mutations like the pineapple, yellow sided, cinnamon). Then there are the Aratinga conure family that are louder. They include sun, jenday, blue crown, golden, mitred, cuban, peach fronted and lots more...ill post a link here to some of the conures. www.arndt-verlag.com/conures.htmthey have some names of the conures and the genus.

Thanks for the link, looks like I'll have to start saving. LOL I like the colours of the GCC with the maroon tailfeathers. I've only had mine a few days but I think we are going to get along well.

I'm sure you will, my beetle wasnt h/r and she is the sweetest little snuggle bug. So many people are like "ok you're coming home with me" lol. They are great birds.
I am going to see my mum in june and she is going to make an appointment for us to see some pearly conures. She loves my green cheek so is looking at pearly's. I can't wait.
