Me and my other half thought it'd be nice to check out the bird stores on the other side of town(mainly me ) Had the whole day planned out. The first stop was a really nice place just set up in a family's backyard, better than it sounds. There was a amazing HR Sun Conure playing in his cage, so when my o/h saw my eyes light up he asked if we could take him out. That was all I needed, he had so much personality and was being mischievous and cute. Although the he was afraid of hands and wouldn't let the owner pick him up (I think the owner was a bit embarrassed by this) I still was taken by him. My o/h said he'd buy the sun if I wanted him So I ummed and ahhed then the owner said "I'll Throw in some toys" thought about it for 10, rang parents to see if we had a spare cage then finally I thought what the hell and got him. Got some nice toys too. He's 2 months old with 4 brothers and sisters (all sold). He's asleep in his cage now, probably glad to be out of that noisy place. He has gotten used to our hands and steps up, so he is tamer than I thought. Very curious bird and I'm worried he might be a chewer, but he hasn't bit me hard yet(touch wood). Main problem is his name at the moment! I think I;m gonna wait till I get a idea of his real personality and hopefully a name will just click. Other problem is my other quaker. He has usually reacted with jealously towards other birds. I'm hoping they may get along eventually because they are about the same size. Any suggestions would be great. Gonna introduce them on nuetral territory tonight with my parents birds in the same room (another quaker and a green-cheek conure) and hopefully this will be a nice social atmosphere. Sorry for the rambling lol Ok picture time More to come! especially if all the fids get along

Nah thats fine about the pics. Havent worked out how to do that yet Anyone else have a pet conure? I got a bit of a shock this morning when my new birdy had his first turd. Unlike my quaker and budgie, he doesn't crap all through the night, he holds it all in. My parents green-cheek does the same, but we just thought it was her. Why oh Why do none of the information pages warn us of this?? my dressing gown might have bee saved I still cant get over how big it was, no wonder he looked uncomfortable

My ekkie does that.........holds on to it and it is huge first thing in the morning. she usually tries to "do it" as I take her out of the cage, so it does not get on me. The new addition looks lovely by the way.

omg he's so cute i understand why you got him he just looks so gorgeus . let us know how he goes with the quaker ? i'd love to get another H/R bird and if i do i'll probable get a conure ( like a Jandy i think thats how you spell it). I have a quaker too and she is aggresive toward other birds and i wonder if its possible for a quaker to be friends with another bird.

Yeah there is one called a Janday, looks basically the same to me, but ya cant tell much from pics on the net. How about a Sunday conure, thats a mix between a Janday and a Sun...too many and I cant tell the difference. But the guy that sold me (unnamed still) had a pair of what looked like Sun conures but with the bit around their eye a deep black, and just kinda different. HE told me they were mature Suns, but I think he was just saying that so I'd buy the baby, cos I can not find any pictures of a Sun Conure with black eye...bits lol.
I'm gonna train this one to poop on the tiles, over some paper towels. Fingers crossed!
So far, my quaker hanst taken a liking to him, but he doesn't charge or anything, just nips sometimes if my sun gets too close. My mothers green quaker was pretty nasty though, pulling his tail and everything. Luckily no damage was done by the time I intervined, fast little things. But he gets on great with the Green-cheek and even though shes half the size, shes starting to teach my sun to stand up for himself. Hes really the most sweet and no agressive bird

He sounds wonderful. Hope your quaker learns to like him or at least tolerates him and leaves him alone. Lucky he has the green cheek.

yer my quaker trys to attack my little h/r canary i reackon if she had the chance to get the canary it would be the end for feathers (the canary) .maybe its their nature for quakers to be aggressive , i find quazy to be quite protective maybe your quaker is tellin the sun to buggger off . but id really like to get another h/r bird , i saw a jandy conure at a pet shop it was out of its cage and i went over to it and in a matter of a couple minutes it was preening my hair and face it was so adorable it was $800.Thatz when i fell in love with jandys ( maybe one day)
