Just like to know what all you birdaholics do when you go on holidays. Do you have some good ideas on taking care of your birds while you are away or don't you go away!!!!

Hi, No I dont go on holidays now, I have two many birds to look after. And when I do go away for a weekend, all I can think of are the birds at home and if they are alright. Bye Pauline

I've found some fellow bird club members are really helpful when I go away.............they've established a 'home feeding' service for club members. A great idea and everybody is happy to participate because it could be you going away next time.
They've established what we've called a 'holiday diet' programme which is basically the same for everybody for the time folk are away.
At other times I've used long term seed feeders and just asked friends and family to check on trhe water situation and top up the fruit/ lorrie mix for the lorikeets.
Cheers

If I do go away..I have some one to take care of my birds....Yes it is hard to find people to do it right. But I would never go any where whiles it was breeding season.I normaly have two different people doing this for me..So one will come one day and via versa..that way, they will do there job right..For one will dob on the other... ;D..But I dont go away very often...I worry to much about them..

Thanks for all your replies! I have a sister who lives close by and she looks after them when I go OS to see my son but otherwise I don't go anywhere either. Might start a little business locally see how it goes.

It's relieving to see other people as fanatical about their babies as I am! I hate to leave them, since my friend who normally feeds the dog/cat/fish has a bird phobia!!!!!!! So the next door neighbours keep an eye on the avairy for me. Mind you, I've only been away twice in the two years I've had the avairy, and then it was only short stops. Like you........hate to leave them

I only go places I can take my handraised babies with me, a freind feeds the dog and the breeders or another freind house sits which is even better. But Hubby four kids 12 handraised ringnecks and a cocketeil and me cram in our car and off we go, we get some odd looks though.
