Scarlets are lovely parrots. I was going to get a pair from a breeder that I know. The price he wanted for a pair was only $45.

I paid $90 when I got my pair. Absolutely stunning birds. Was very annoyed when they both dropped dead 3 weeks later.

Greg she looks great and at that price a bonus. Just a pity petrol is going to be through the roof when you have to drive to get them. Hope you are on the side of Melbourne close to Wonthaggi.

No reason - they were both healthy youngsters. The female went first and 3 days later the male went.

Scarlets are very good at dropping dead for no reason, especially if it rains more than 2 days in a row. I've lost at least 7. They seem suseptible to damp and drafts. Touch-wood I haven't lost one for a while but have them in pretty sheltered aviaries now. There is a quote about Scarlets, something along the lines of if there is one nail hole in your aviary you scarlet will sit in the breeze from it and catch a chill By the way don't be put off Greg they're awesome birds. The 2nd two I have had to handraise this year are the funniest little critters, they are refusing to wean and just jump all over me for food and chatter all day, they make more noise than the rest of my scarlets put together.
