Well I have to get a male ekkie and male alex for the girls. Hubby reckons the girls will be able to go into the aviary this weekend.........I will not hold my breath, but it is getting very close.
I have decided to get princess parrots and cockatiels for the other aviary when it gets set up (don't get excited anyone.....remember how long this one took to get built??? lol)
I think I have also decided to not get a black cockatoo............but when and if Skye breeds babies.........I think I will handraise myself a green boy. So I will end up with 2 green boys as pets.
After the Skye episode of her turning into a normal eclectus female (which she is......she is not some unnatural terror, she is just doing what 99% of female ekkies do) I am worried about spending so much money on a big bird and then it turning out to be a hormonal terror also.
From what I have read the male ekkies tend to be the better pets and can be cuddle bugs too. So I figured if I hand raise him then hopefully I will not have too many problems...........hopefully.
Well that is what I have decided today..........tomorrow is a new day and I am a woman and it is my perogative to change my mind at any moment. ;D ;D ;D I still like the sound of the blue quakers too ;D That might need another aviary built ;D ;D Oh I am glad hubby doesn't read this. lol

ROFLMAO about being a woman, soooo true. ;D Prinnies and weeros sound like a good combo. I don't think black cockies have as much hormonal aggression as eckie girls but we'll have to see how Judy gets on with Jetta come next breeding season. Yeah, get a blue quaker, just cos I can't and I can 'adopt' yours online LOL

Umm, that site is generally scarey. Just don't ever mention the B word regarding any bird or they'll eat you alive. Nice to see the quakers are rubbing off and Jules I actually do feel bad that you guys can't have them.

oh hang on I think I just thought of it "breeding"
Yes a lot of the US sites don't like that word no matter what the animal is........but especially with birds.

Oh ok. Bit stupid really as they wouldn't have their birds if it wasn't for breeders

That is actually their issue Jules. That birds should never have been made pets from the beginning. They believe that there is too many pet birds that get discarded after a short time and end up in shelters. There probably is over there as there is so many many more people and the birds are a much more accessible price too. Heck if I lived over there I would definetly own at least one grey and macaw...........and then anything else I could afford. lol

This goes onto a whole new area that was recently explored in Australian Birdkeeper. The Americans have made some huge errors in search of the holey dollar and now many birds are paying for it. Ok need to stay off soap box for at least one week. So...what colour princess Tracey? The blues are so pretty. Oh I know blue princess with white face and pastel face 'tiels. Wow that would be nice. Hubby likes the princess and I keep saying do you want me to get a pair, and he's like, no no that's ok. Hmm, maybe I should and just tell him they're his birds.

lol Mary. I love blue birds but you know I actually prefer the normal princesses So I am thinking maybe a pair of normal princesses and a couple of pairs of tiels. Maybe a whitefaced pair and a pearly pair...........I will let Pam probably help me in that area as she will probably be the person I buy from for tiels anyway.

My mum might be getting a normal princess, i have kind of talked her into it, she was going to get another tiel but kinda wanted something different. She has always liked the princesses so i have told her all i know about them and i think we found a winner lol.
