I have told the breeder I will take the male they have. They have sent a couple of pics of him and he looks nice ...... just the pics are a bit dark.......but he does look nice. I will probably drive up to Mackay in a couple of weekends for the day to pick him up. He is coming from Cannonvale. So looks like both my girls have "foreign" husbands. Just couldn't find a local male for them.

hmmmmmm dont curlew's lay their eggs (oh hang on I think that is cuckoo's lol). I wouldn't mind some quails .......... not sure how Skye would like them in her part of the aviary though.

Shrekies "boyfriend to be" is about 4 years old. He comes from a breeder who is into the colour mutations (in otherwords crossed with IRN's) and he has had babies apparently ....... the lady has an accent, but I think she used him to get some splits out of. So my understanding is he must have gone over a coloured hen (who probably is not quite back to purebred) so they can get the alex back more and then I guess they keep those babies or some of those babies depending on sex etc and don't need the male I am buying.
I have seen pics of him and sent the best one on to Pauline for her expert opinion (I hope I did anyway ;D )
So he is not a split to my knowledge and he doesn't look a split and has had babies and they got what they wanted out of him. ;D

I am a bit worried she is too bonded to humans.......but hopefully when breeding season happens .......... the hormones will kick in and nature takes its course ;D

I'm sure she'll be fine, especially when she sets her peepers on such a handsome boy as he will be ;D

Yes he is my baby ;D I never bought him to breed with. I never bought Skye to breed with either but she has become a normal hormonal and aggressive at times female ekkie, so I got her a mate. Shrekie I originally bought for my eldest son as a house warming present because he thought he wanted one. But 18 months later I got her back and thought well one day I will get her a mate too, but it has taken a long time to get an aviary built.....it is built now and the girls are in it and just waiting for their boys.

My Boris is very much bonded to humans but not 30 seconds after I put her with a male (she was very much in season) she hunkered down and lifted her tail to him . . . she has now had 3 clutches and is currently on the verandah coming in for a flight time still as crazy and tame as ever (if a bit bitier now).

There is a fellow near where I live has some very large and mature Alex's he's selling. They were very good looking birds.
