Here's a pic of one of the four tawny frogmouths we are caring for at the moment. None of them are seriously injured, just missing their tail feathers. Once we make sure they've had plenty to eat, and there's no worry about that as they are little piggies, they'll be released except one. He appeared to have a head injury or a severe concussion as he couldn't lift his head properly and couldn't take his own food, we had to put it into his mouth and part way down his throat but now he holds his head almost like normal. When he eats he still holds his head down a bit but can take and swallow his own food now. If he keeps improving we may be able to release him but not for a while yet.

Aren't they fantastic birds, I love them there used to be a pair at the Tennis Courts I looked after and they would have babies every year until some mongrel shot them with a slug gun.
