Also was just given a fishtank so soon will be raising Yabbies for the table. Now you have to remember that quite a few of my birds (well poultry inc quail) are here to earn their keep via eggs, meat and/or breeding. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm Yabbie appetiser,Quail entree,Guinea Fowl and Duck mains, peraps BBQ'ed. Salad with quail eggs and maybe a chocolate souffle made with Duck eggs for dessert. ;D ;D

Oh cool a head count. Let me see 8 cockatiels 3 budgies 3 GCCs 2 sun conures 2 nandays 3 quakers 1 corella 1 CAG 1 IRN 1 Mallee ringneck 1 quail 2 dogs 2 cats 2 fish 1 turtle 1 rabbit 2 pedigree rats 1 ringtail possum Ok think that's all. Geez the rabbit is the only edible one but she's getting a bit old now. One cat vaguely earns her keep catching mice, dogs every so often bark for a real reason, umm nup everyone else is pretty much useless but lovable.

Currently:
House birds 2 King parrots - pair 2 blue princess - pair 1 Crimson-wing - cock 7 cockatiels - 3 pairs plus 1 hen 1 Plum-head parrot - hen 2 African Greys - pair 2 lurino Ringnecks - pair
there has been quite a lot of species we have kept at different times as pets but no longer have - I worked out I have hand raised over 30 different species of parrots over the last 17 years and most have been kept for a while to sort out pet bird behaviour.
Outside aviaries 9 Cockatiels about 25 Zebra finches 2 Canaries 2 Ringnecks 3 Lovebirds 2 Bourkes 7 Budgies 2 blue Princesses
only the Ringneck pair and Zebras are set up for breeding - the rest are birds from the shop that for one reason or another are not sellable - have disabilities, pluckers, tumours, etc - but with still an enjoyable quality of life. I've given up on trying to breed much these days and gradually turned flights over from breeding to retirement status. Most of the Zebras are due to be caught up and taken to the shop to sell when we get short of Zebras there.
Oh, and also 2 cats and a fish tank with various African Cichlids.
cheers,
Mike

A coral tank? I love hawkfish so groovy looking! Yeh "Harry the Hawkfish" is such a character, he takes food from my fingers However very bossy to other fishies (when I had some ) I'm trying so very hard to get this saltwater tank thing right. My goodness it takes alot of $ and hard work. Only been going since Sept 07, 4x2x2. Actually tank parameters are very stable but sadly bought the wrong fish with ich and couldn't treat sucessfully because of corals and inverterbrates. Bad timing with very hot weekend a few months ago and temp went to 29.5 seemed to set it all off (have chiller now...more power ) Lost all but Harry the Hawkfish Very sad I probably would have given up except for Harry. Anyway having learnt the hard way I now have a hospital/QT where Harry is living while my main tank stays fish free for a few months to cycle the ich out. And all new fishies will be staying in QT. What sort of fish do you have Ben?
