I've found the old food dehydrator and much to the horror of my parents have pulled it down and started experimenting. At the moment I'm drying some watermelon, orange, lime and apple with banana to follow once this lot is done.
I know that fruit and vegies with high water content can be an issue with parrots sometimes, but I was wondering if these would be okay for Troube, Anath and Tristan dried?

My birds loved my own dehydrated orange ... and corn the most ...
Never bothered with watermelon cause it would probably end up as nothing once its dried ...
I've dehydrated alot of things ... chilli, carrots, pumpkin, zuchinni, sweet potato, paw paw, mango and heaps of other stuff ...
what issues are there with high water fruit and veg?? I'd be more likly to say there is nothing in high water fruit and veg ... which will then just make there poo more runny ..
Have fun!!

Yeah just that it's high water and not much goodness so they eat it and then it goes straight through - I tend to avoid fruit and vegies like that as a general rule.
Thanks for the response. :3 I'm sure they'll all love some fruit and vegie skewer thingies with fresh and dry stuff.

I thought that the high water thing would just filling themselves up with not much nutrition, certainly not a prob once dehydrated and I had only heard it for lettuce anyway I know you have to watch citrus intake because of the acid content, so I only give orange halves once a week but they love them
