What would you expect to pay for an african grey in Aus? Thanks Shaun I'm doing well here Shaun - only been logged on for 10 minutes and already answered 4 of your posts From a breeder you could expect to pay around $4000 to $4500. It can vary a little bit outside that range - might be a bit cheaper in Victoria - but in SE Qld that is the going price for a weaned HR baby with NEBRS pedigree. A non-NEBRS stock bird may come in quite a bit cheaper since it would be difficult to register and hence considered illegal by the Federal Government. cheers, Mike

Thanls Mike, I am happy with your service! You have been very helpful. I thought a bird would be a bit more about $5000. Are they readily available, or hard to come by? Thanks Shaun

Thanls Mike, I am happy with your service! You have been very helpful. I thought a bird would be a bit more about $5000. Are they readily available, or hard to come by? Thanks Shaun Not too difficult - but most are sold by word of mouth rather than being advertised. In fact if you do see one advertised be sure to check it out carefully since most good breeders will not have to advertise - their reputation will ensure that they sell without having to advertise and that applies to all expensive birds for that matter Perhaps I should qualify that a bit and say that good breeders of such birds would not normally have to advertise on the Internet or newspapers, but may well advertise in the magazines such as Birdkeeper and Aviary Life. I have sold them in my shop at times, buying from SE Qld breeders, and I own a pair myself - too young to breed as yet. Our shop price is $6,000 - I have to buy them from breeders at the same price as anyone else of course and want to make a profit on the deal cheers, Mike
