Oh wow. Well I ordered the supposed free sex test kit but don't know if they'll send it to me since they are an american company ?? Not too keen on cutting Rhuby's toes though, making it bleed and all that ? Does anyone have any more help/advice how to do this properly re cutting the toe ...scary stuff ??

Use MDS - AMR doesn't have an Australian agent to the best of my knowledge. Most breeders use MDS.
cheers,

I used MDS and I didn't have to cut the toe. I just pricked above the nail. It was easy once I experimented with the first two alex bubs........the third one was a sinch. lol

It was easy once I experimented with the first two alex bubs........the third one was a sinch. lol That's all I do, prick the toe until you get a tiny amount of blood, blot it on the paper, put it in the tube and then send it away. Easy. And they are very quick to respond also. We usually have the results back within the week.

Ellen....."prick the toe until you get a tiny bit of blood" lol does that mean like I did for the first two..........they got about 6 pricks each before I realised I onlly had to prick once and gently put pressure until the blood came out. the 3rd one was much better after experimenting with the other 2. ;D

I use DNA Soultions www.dnasolutions.com.au/You have to pull two feathers (which I find easier then blood) and you just have to print out the form and put feathers in a marked bag (glad snap lock bags work well. They are $28 or if over 4 birds $25 and you can get the results in a week or ask for 48 hour return. You get a card with the animals details on it. However now that I have more birds I may look at finding a cheaper solution.
