So a couple of weeks ago, I rushed Caspian to the vet, freaking out because I weighed him on the ratty little scale and he came in *five grams light*.
Turns out my scale is ratty, and he'd actually PUT ON a gram, and was a fine little picture of cute, gorgeous health.
*EMBARRASSED COUGH*
The vet I saw was a lady I hadn't met before, and she was lovely, and introduced me to her lovebirds who were a lutino and a creamino. As soon as Caspian heard them, though, he completely lost it, running around and letting out that piercing contact call of his every three seconds, and when they came into the room he completely abandoned me in favour of their company, and he was more lively than I'd ever seen him, and clearly ecstatic to see other birds.
Akira's death him me pretty hard, so I wasn't looking to get another lovebird, but I promised myself that if he wouldn't be happy with just people, I'd give him away. Turns out I'm far too big a sook to do that, so instead, I got him another friend.
From the bite more than the hip bones (although those too) I'm suspecting a hen. She doesn't like people much at all, but they spend 99% of their time in the big cage upstairs or the bigger cage downstairs, and she's calm enough once caught that I can look her over without dodging her beak, so I'm okay with that, and she seems pretty happy most of the time. She's actually tamer than Caspian was when he came home, and these days he sooks if I don't talk to him for an hour or so every day. She's about twelve months old, and a pied normal. I wish I could get a good picture of her head, because it's beautifully yellow and green patterned. She's 48 grams and I'm transitioning to pellets at the moment, so she's being weighed every day (I bought new scales the day after the vet visit...set me back 40 bucks for a sexy little silver digital kitchen one).
I caught him regurgitating to her this morning. I obviously haven't brought him up properly if he's being so forward with girls he's just met !! I'm like, hey, buy her dinner first! To which he replied, 'what do you think this is, chopped liver?'
