Well, he is at it again. My wonderful husband has been building me a new brooder box for my new baby! I think he has done an excellent job. Sometimes I think he has missed his calling. He is always building me items to make my life easier. ;D

wow what a great job!!! what did you use as a heating element? At the bottom of the box he has installed a light, you can see it shining in the picture. It has a 60w globe which produces the heat. We had it on for a few hours after he finished building it, and the temp was at 28 oC. I'm very proud of all his work, he has had no training with anything like that, but he always gives it a go. He built all our aviaries and did a fantastic job with those, and at the moment he is now building me an outside kitchen (for on the back patio) so I can just about live outside all the time now and be with the birds.

Well, first clue is.......................it's a bird. Does that help. And further to the brooder box, Mick bought a thermostat control on Ebay, so I will now be able to keep it at the desired temperature.

No, not an emu. We have them here on the park - there are 4 wild ones that wander around. We don't see them a lot, but when we do, it is always a thrill.
Keep guessing.
Looks like I might have a bit longer wait than expected............Bugger!

I am awaiting the arrival of a new baby bird, but it now looks like it might be a few more weeks off yet. It is killing me waiting. I was never good with the whole pregnancy thing myself when I was pregnant. Both my kids were two weeks late! The gentleman I am getting my new baby off said to call him at the end of this week, so I won't know much more till then.
