Hi Everybody, Has anybody on the forum ever bred and handraised plumheads/ slatyheads before (or now for that matter) ?
I'd really like to know how they would go as a handraised pet. I have the opportunity of getting a breeding pair.
Also has anybody successfully transferred a full nest (eggs etc) and then successfully hatched and raised the young.
Cheers

I handreared 3 plumheads last season. The parents feed them until they are about 14 days old, them decide they have had enough and stop feeding them. They are easy to handrear and wean early. I found they do get a little bitey while they are weaning. My 3 birds are now in a walkin aviary with other birds and they are very tame, flying and landing on you shoulder.

Although i know a lot of people who successfully breed plumheads, i have also heard a lot of bad things about breeding them. Some plumheads eat eggs, babies, lay infertile eggs etc
