Good-day Wayne, I noticed in the last ABK magazine a classified ad for Avairy Bird Insurance. Looks like they only insure for theft but there's no details of the cover. Here's some details from the ad that may help you in your enquiries:
Avialable from Remington's Insurance Brokers, 78 Mair Street East, Ballarat, Vic 3350. Covers - Fire/ Theft @ $24.20 per $1000 value. Minimum Premium $156.75
Contact Warwick Remington (03) 5331 7341
I guess whether to insure or not will depend on everyone's own circumstances but your right.........these guys can get pretty valuable and when you look at the minimum cost of the cover it's not that much is it when you look at the $$ value of the birds in the avairies !! Probably cheaper then feeding a BIG Rottwieler as well !!
Let's know how you get on.
Cheers Viraba

thanks for your reply viraba, ill look into the insurance this week - im looking in to getting a pair of lacewings, which is a lot of $$$$. i was just going to insure the one pair, we would have a big bill if we to insure all of our birds. theft is an issue, but fire??? anyway - thanks again... wayne
