Hi,
I was wondering what price everyone is buying their seed at? I was hoping to find a supplier of small parrot and sunflower at reasonable prices in bulk.
Thanks Shaun

Last bag I bought cost me $65 for a 40k bag. Can't remember the brand, I think it was Austwest seeds or something similar. Was the only seed in town.

Shaun, remember you get what you pay for in seed too, no point buying cheaper seed if you end up with a mix they don't eat. I can guarantee my birds wouldn't eat a panicum seed if their lives depended on it (and obviously don't buy any small parrot mix with sorghum in it either) I use Jenco Premium Seeds Small Parrot mix which has canary seed, white french millet, hulled oats, safflower & grey stripe sunflower (in moderation remembering too many sunnies aren't good). 20kgs $32.50, might be abit dearer but less wastage I can't stand looking at dishes full of panicum uneaten

I use Peachface seed for my birds. I was buying it from Petbarn at $38.00 for $20 kgs. Now I buy it from Western Pet Foods for $27.50 for 20kgs. It comes in exactly the same bag. What do panicum seeds look like?

I mean yellow panicum, like most of the millet sprays are but they probably wouldn't eat red panicum either

Shaun, Breeders choice seed is good and your birds will love it and you won't have any waste, all good seeds used. I have used it and now I use AGM witch is a lot like Breeders choice. I pick up my seed from a local farmer whos prices a bit cheaper than the shops.

So that's panicum, I've seen that in small parrot mix, its not in the Peachface mix. I thought millet sprays were made from french millet?

I use sustain horse feed ($28 for 30kg) and mix it with the local fooder stores Budgie mix ($20 for 20kg) They love it the only thing they don't eat is this larger seed but all the rest goes so does the dried corn that is in it.

I had to buy seed today from Allora Grain & Milling ( AGM- 10 mins away) $18.50 for Finch mix, $16.80 for Wild bird mix, & $22.80 for Peachface mix. That's the price here but they have a warehouse in Springwood I didn't ask if the price increased when buying up but I can only guess it would a little All these bags weigh 25 kgs I know they will also sell per kg as well I can recommend their seed

I have ended up getting my seed at either a local rural supplier up here, or from Crystal Pet and Wire centre in Sydney. I think it is $26.50 for 20kg of small parrot. I usually buy a few bags which lasts for a while.

I don't buy seed anymore that has sorgum in it as the birds don't like it. I am assuming that sorgum is the same as panikum (spelling). I buy small bird mix and there is not heaps of sunflower seeds in it either.
