More eggs straight after the babies grow up

The canaries are weaned now, they can feed themselves and don't beg the parents anymore.

But yesterday... the mother was sitting on the nest...again?? I peeked inside and found two more eggs!!

Is this normal?? Straight after the babies have been weaned, she lays more eggs!!

Wow the parents have sure been busy huh?

I have no idea if it's normal or not, but it'd probably be a good idea to give her a break after this lot if you can - I know I'd sure be tired after one lot, let alone two!

yes my hen keeps laying eggs. I end up taking the nest out just to give her a rest. If this lot hatch and survive I will probably take the nest out during summer.

You can let her have 2 clutches but then it is best to remove the nest and let her rest

I've had to take my female budgies out of the aviary for a rest as they do the same thing. I don't like them to have more than 2 clutches a season.

Oh ok, so this happens to you guys as well? Oh phew, I'm not alone then.

Well, the eggs are already there, so I'll let her do her stuff. Once they hatch, we'll take the nest out. I hope she doesn't try to make nests in the food bowls again.

yes my hen has tried to make nests in the seed dishes. So I gave up and put her nest back in. But on the whole when I take the nest out she usually stops laying.

Can they do that? Do they have a choice to lay eggs?

I don't know if it is a choice as such. But quite often if there is nothing to lay an egg in then they wont lay. Having said that though, last year Shrekie layed 2 clutches of eggs with no nest box........they just fell onto the floor of the cage.
