Ok, so we may possibly be getting 1 tame lovebird, as a pet for my son. We are after the blue (black-masked) lovebird. Now I don't know ANYTHING about these little guys, so could you experienced lovey-fans share some info and advice about them. So as to give me some starting point before I hit the internet. So much easier, when you get a starting point and know which direction to steer to - I had just spent days researching up about SC 'toos, so getting abit tired of all this researching LOL Like what is their usual behaviour, character, personality, anything that they do different to other birds, anything they particulalry like/dislike? Anything we should be aware of etc. *** If I take time to reply to this post or any other post, please don't think I'm snubbing you, my "email notifier", is once again, not notifying me...so I gotta chase up my posts "manually" but don't always remember where I had put them all Cheers for any info you'd like to share!!!!

Minna, who keeps lovebirds replied in the other thread. Robert will probably have some info for you, and maybe the guys from Trueloveaviary will catch this thread.

Birdlady,Don't know much about Black Mask.I am owned by a Peachface called Precious.Precious has already bonded strongly to me.Therefore he demands a lot of attention. He definitely enjoys human company.Precious loves to snuggle just below my neck. Best Robert and Precious

Peachface are supposed to make the best pet lovies, they have a better nature and are less flighty. Although there is someone on here with a pet fischers lovie. If you get one be aware of cage agressiong / terretorial behavior, lots of lovies i have met get very agressive over there cage so this habit needs to be stepped on before it gets out of hand- your son will also need to play with it lots and let others play with it too so it doesnt become bonded to just one person. Hope i have helped

try to make sure you get a handraised one if possible as I have heard they make the much nicer pets.

They certainly are. It's nice to love a bird, but hand raised ones can love you back.
