Well i think this is a common problem but not 100% sure,2 of my hens are taking their nesting materials out bit by bit,one of them has just a very thin layer in her box.The other one is in the process of doing the same.
Just a lil bit worried they are gunna take the hole lot out, should i put more in when eggs start appearing or should i just leave them as is???
Thanks .K. Krystle

this is entirely normal ringneck breeding behaviour, and is a good sign - eggs will follow. I always keep replacing the nesting material, since you don't want eggs laid on a bare bottom of a nest box - the eggs will roll around and have poor hatching. Once the first egg is laid the nesting removal behaviour stops so make sure that there is enough material on the bottom of the box to stop the eggs rolling.
cheers,
Mike
