Hey guys I havent been on for a while coz my nana is critically ill and ive been up and down at the hospital like a yo-yo
My step mum and dad came over and i havent seen her for a lil while and she went to have a look at my birds and there is an egg in my pastelblu cock and my sky blu hens box!!! I was a bit upset that i didnt see it first as last night i was talking to her on the phone telling her i think im gunna have an egg VERY soon ...LOl.... But a nice suprise for her anyway as she adores birds...
Just a bit of a question
My birds are avairy birds(thats how i got them) now she told me that to be careful to not interupt her all the time as she will kick the egg out,is this true can anyone give me a little bit on advise what to do??? (i have 2 step kids that go out and play and they are sorta in a walkway is this gunna be a problem???
*How often should i check in her box?? (also before they had eggs when u went near the cage they would both race into their nesting box im just scared that they mite go in there really quick and break there own egg)
IM SOOOOOOOOOOO excited its stupid it like im a lil kid at christmas i got to remind myself not to wanna go look lol

I am lucky as my canaries and my ekkies and my alex's allow me to check the eggs (well I wait until they are off the eggs and eating or something.) ...... I do not attempt to check the eggs while they are in the nest box....especially the ekkie nest box........I would more than likely come out of it with no face ;D
I checked every day or every couple of days when they were eggs. I have been known to pick them up and check them (the eggs that is) but I try not to do that very often. I haven't touched Skye's eggs this time, but I have checked them quite a few times (today being the latest).
When the bubs are there I check twice a day if I can........but once again I wait until they are off the eggs. I had my husband make me a door to check the eggs/chicks with the ekkies so I can access them without entering their part of the aviary.
Because you birds are not actually people friendly I probably wouldn't disturb her to much but if you can check them without upsetting them..........I would.

I have always checked ringneck nest boxes every 2 or 3 days - and I will candle them a couple of times - at 1 and 2 weeks - to see how they are developing. Never had a problem with hens deserting the nest.
Having said that I thinkitis important to have a routine that the birds are used to. If you suddenly look in the box after a couple of weeks doing nothing then ther eis a greater possibility of problems.
cheers,
Mike

Our love and thoughts go out to you and your family. Hope Nana is feeling a lot better.
I have aviary ringnecks too, and I check them also. They are very good whilst checking, I always try and do it at the warmest part of the day, so if they do get off the eggs, at least they stay warm until the parents get back on. Most of my ringies will stay in the nest and I just lift their tails and have a look - and they let me do it. Having said that though, they are used to me doing this. I think if your ringies are used to the kids playing there all the time, you shouldn't have a problem, I would only worry if you put them there a short time ago.

Its soo amazing when watching my birds ,ive been reading about do irn bond and alot of material saying that that dont, but i beg to differ!! my pastel cinnamon lacewings are way bonded they do everything together!! eat sleep they are always right next to each other some of my birds are similar but not all of them another pair i have blu cinnamon cocok with cinnamon blu hen are in my view bonded aswell. its is just an amazing moment just watching how much they care for one another.
Also when im going in to change there food and water the female is a lil flighty and the male is calm and when she flutters a bit he calls out for her to settle down ,after about a few seconds of that she is calm it is amazing, i cant wait for my new additions that i can handle and be touchy feely birds!! i mite even keep a couple lol
