i'm just posting this now because I've been so upset I couldn't even talk about this for a while. my beautiful WF cockateil that I raised and hand fed died. I opened his cage in the morning like usual and he went for his morning flight around the house like usual. I heard him land in the living room so I went in to see where he was and what he was doing. My little dog came charging in after me and spooked Spike he flew in fear and hit the window and broke his neck. My poor beautiful cockateil gone in a second. I taught him about windows just like I do all my birds I take them around and get them to touch the glass with their beaks so they know its solid I do this every week so its fresh in their little minds. I guess when their is fear involed and they fly the don't think about anything else excpt fly. I'm so sad .

Very sorry to hear this. I know what it's like to lose a bird this way - I lost Zillah (one of my budgies) to her flying into the side of the cage and breaking her neck during a night fright. It's horrible to lose them so quickly, but at least remember that it would have been quick for him if that helps at all.
