Yesterday I was a little sad so I went to Bicki, he usually cheers me up.
And he was the sweetest little thing. He fluffed up and let me pat him, he was adorable.
I was wondering.. maybe birds can feel our emotions??

I have no doubt they can. Probably another pertinent question would be: Do they care what we're feeling? I've been in the foulest of moods not wanting anyone (human or fid) within 10 miles of me and I swear those darned feathered ones are worse than annoying humans! They will not leave you alone! even when you go to the trouble of putting them back in their cages and locking it up they still climb all over the inside shrieking and generally annoying the crap out of you so much you have to leave the room!

I believe that all animals can sense our "emotions". I know that dogs and cats definetly can I have experienced this for myself first hand a few times. I believe our birds can.....although I can't give any definite experiences like I can with pet dogs and cats.
Although when we are in "bad moods" our birds seem to play on it......maybe that is what your birds are doing Karen??? They can sense something is not quite right and want to be with you???

lol the 2 house monsters are like velcro when I am in the room at the best of times. When my mood is bad not only are they velcro, they want to kiss constantly. I have to watch my mouth opening because very soon there'd be a birds head in there! I mean they always annoy - that's part of their "charm" but it is tripled whenever I've been in a bad mood.

Lol that is definitley a good question. Do they care? I think the less mischivious ones do. Vankahari, can you tell me about your experience with cats and dogs?

i would say without a doubt that Elmo reacts to my moods.. she's such a sweetheart when i'm sad - she crawls up under my chin and nuzzles me or preens my hair - and if i'm crying she'll lick the tears from my face -which never fails to make me giggle and cheer me up!

Well Bikitrainer without going into too much detail but as a young teenager on one occassion I was sobbing in my backyard on the swing set and one of our german shepherds just came up and put her head on my lap and just sat there looking at me. I have never ever forgotten this as it was a very poignent time of my life. My dogs have done this a few times...........and my cats have too (when I had cats). They just seem to know when we are down (apparently they can see our auras and can understand what they see) and know that just "sitting" with us can be a comfort.
I do believe our birds are smart enough also to sense our moods too.
