I found this little runt today, ive never raised one at this age only older. I have no insectivore left, he is way to young to wean by my standards, hes only just lost his fluff! Really great timing, mum will have to do lots of the caring because im going to have to drive the header around. I looked for a nest for ages and mum and dad were long gone. it unusual, they usually hang around. Does any one have any ideas of what i can use to feed him until i get some more insectivor mix here, i have everything else but i dont want him to be deficient.

Not my area of expertise, and I'm not even sure what species it is. I would have thought that maybe lean mince with added calcium powder and mutivitamins would keep him alive for a day or two until you organise the insectivore. But don't quote me!!! Hopefully Ben will come on line and help this evening. cheers, Mike

Alright, Baby Black eared/Noisy or Bell Miner He's old enough to have chopped mealies but the best thing for him is chopped maggot and cricket puree with some breadcrumbs in it, (just a tad to thicken it) add some mince too and a bit of lori mix.
I raise all my miners on 1 parts roo mince, 1 part water 1 part insectivre and 1 part lori mix. The maggot, cricket and mealie mince will replace insectivore, and if you've got woodies mince them up too.
p.s. Maggots and mealies are interchangable, but maggots are best.
He's old enough to be perching, remmeber they fledge early. and should be drinking by himself.
