Hi I got my GCC (Rhuby) at the end of September this year (2008) and at the time of purchase, he/she was only 8 weeks old. I believe Rhuby is moulting/molting as he/she is full of pins and looks a bit scruffy. There are some loose feathers around the bottom of the cage but not so many that would make me think was a sure sign of a bird moulting.
Is it possible for a bird so young to be going through her first moult already ?
Thanks for any advice you can offer.
Cheers Kat

Sounds normal Birds moult in summer although with babies it can be variable, but I would have no concerns about a moult now with a bird hatched at the start of August cheers, Mike
