Hi Oceanaussi I didn't notice this before until now - I'm sorry - I don't want to scare you but perhaps just give you a gentle warning to keep an eye on Stormy's rope toys. Make sure Stormy isn't eating the rope/string/cotton or it can actually get stuck inside the bird. Sorry for my lack of info - someone on here may be able to give a clearer & broader explanation. I don't give my birds ropey toys especially my ringies coz they just love to chew through the rope material and I can't be sure if all the rope bits are falling to the ground of the cage or building up inside their stomachs.

Ah, thanks for the info! I didn't know. I haven't seen Stormy on the rope toy at all, he doesn't really seem to like it. But my IRN have a few in their cage and yes they chew it to bits. I will take it out of their cage as soon as I come home!

I've used rope toys for years with my guys with no ill effects. I like to change them every 6-12 months just for my own piece of mind. Just make sure if there is a frayed piece to cut it off.

Give your Stormy every type of fruit and vegie you can! You are in a perfect situation to introduce all types of food. Make the most of it! Eat lots of salads and share little bits.
And remember treats can be play time, attention, affection or something else your Stormy values and appreciates.
For you other people handling and training your parrot will be so important.
You sound really happy and I am so pleased for you.
Good looking parrot!
Cheers,
Kate

Rope toys are a worry.
Keep a very close eye on them. Don't leave the parrot on his own with the rope toy whilst you are at work.
Parrots can lose toes and also ingest it and die.
