Ok Elmo is offically off his rocker!
He just spent the last 15 mins doing our phone ring and then says "hello" and then repeats the process *bangs head against the door* It seems he gets the most active at night, talking up a storm. People kept telling me that he would never really talk but they never met Elmo!
Granted his talking is not as clear as other birds but dam try getting him to shut up while i am watching something on the TV

People say that budgies and cockatiels are not clear talkers........but I can understand mine when they talked.
I can remember when I was told that eclectus were not good talkers ........ I am sure that 4 and half years ago because ekkies were not very common then as pets not a lot was known about them but now they have become quite common and there is a little more getting known about them now and their talk ability is becoming known now. I am sure you will find that with your Elmo. Not many people own them as pets.......but listening to what you say about Elmo I would have to wonder if they are also not given enough credit either.
Oh and with the ekkies I was also under the impression that they were boring and just sat there on their perch......trust me my boys are so playful it is funny to watch them (although I have had to put them in separate cages as BB picks on Erik)......so that is another myth busted ;D

I've never heard a king parrot talk before, but I would sure love to. Good for you that he is talking. I get told all the time that all my birds should be able to talk, because I talk so much!
