Today, Tweety, our beloved Alexandrian parakeet flew away. He was on his perch, we always spend time together on his perch. We talk, eat and have fun. But today he flew from his perch... over a roof and disappeared. I ran and ran and looked for 4 hours straight today. My feet are aching but I didn't give up. My mum was the one who told me to go back home. But I still wanted to look. He's out there because of me, I was irresponsible. I'm not giving up yet, I'm going to put signs up everywhere tomorrow and I'm going to continue on searching. He's so beautiful, he recently grew the black ring around his neck, and he had a brillaint volcabulary. He could say "Whatcha doing" "I love you" and even "The never ending story" I miss him so much. I cried so much today. I hope he's alright.

Stay positive.....I lost Takoda for 3 days a couple of months ago and I got him back. I lost him 2 years ago for 2 days and got him back. I lost my galah quite few times over the 15 years she was with us (RIP little girl) and the longest she was gone was 7 days and I got her back every time. I have lost a cockatoo and quite a few cockatiels ........ never to return though.....but I just wanted you to know that I did get some of my birds back.

I put flyers out EVERYWHERE.....door knocked, put ads in papers and on the radio. The thing with Takoda is I got him back by accident as the woman that found him had rung the vet to find out how to treat a "big green bird" with a sore wing. The vet knew I had "big green birds" but didn't know what breed as she is the vet I take my dogs to not my birds and did not know I had lost Takoda (they go to a different vet) and she gave the woman my work number (I actually know the vet nurse at that clinic as I worked with her mum at the TAFE college many years ago and I think it was actually her) ..... anyway she rang me wanting to know what to do with this bird that she had found....... and the rest is history ;D I broke down crying when I realised it was actually my Takoda (very embarressing when at work trying to serve customers but they were tears of happiness). The others were either returned by people seeing flyers, hearing ads or by my kids door knocking and someone being honest and saying they had seen Bo in their yard. Or by us just pounding the streets for days looking for any sight or sound of the bird in question.

That is so sad for you, I understand your loss - as I am sure many of us do. There is always hope, Tracey is living proof of that. I hope your Tweety returns home soon and safely.
