Are there any books about bird behaviour? I'm trying to learn about what different behaviours mean but I just have no clue. Any suggestions?

Anything with Barbara Heidenreich She has a couple of books .. "good bird" and "parrot problem solver" She also has 3 dvds out .. her last one is on "parrot body language" www.goodbirdinc.com/*Lisa* |

Barbara's books are available from Australian Birdkeeper via their web site. We also usually have them in stock although I'm not sure if we do currently so don't come up especially without phoning first and reserving a copy  cheers, Mike |

Thank you! I'm looking for something in general - not necessarily about problem behaviour. I know dogs, I slowly learned how to interpret horses and now I have to learn birds. If read this article on here about how to develop trust with the bird and there were so many behaviours naturally occurring in a bird which I didn't know about, so I need to learn.

He is tops ... and i'm lead to believe he'll be at parrots 2010 ...
Wouldnt know him personally but know off him
And if you buy Barbara's latest dvd its all about parrot body language ... and her books arent all about behaviour ...
but its probably best to know all about parrot behaviour and read the problems in the books ... so you may be lucky to give it a miss with your parrot ...
You can do a parrot workshop in the U.S that steve Martin runs .... or you can do parrot workshops here in australia to learn more about parrots etc ...
Jim McKendry i'd say is one of our great parrot behaviour experts in Australia ...

Thanks! I have a few links now I will work thru. Mike, do you have Barbara's latest DVD? Sound like exactly what I need: "Parrot body language for dummies"  Yes, I'm definitely interested to learn about body language and behaviour so I know what little Stormy is trying to tell me. Just4birds, do you know when & where these workshops run? Certainly would be interested. |
