I am so over birds at the moment. A couple of weeks ago I lost 2 baby cockatiels as the parents decided not to feed them. Then on the weekend I put a small budgie in with a show budgie while I hosed out the aviary and she killed it. Now yesterday another budgie killed my 3 baby budgies still in the box. Grrrrr I have had a really bad breeding season this summer.

Sorry to hear Laraine, hopefully your new blue quaker will cheer you up. He is almost ready. Sorry I have been meaning to email pics to you. He loves his food so might be a little harder to wean than normal. Shaun

So far this season I have lost 16 babies of all different species. It's very disappointing. Hopefully the budgies and tiels will keep breeding for a little while longer. So far the babies that I have still alive are 1 red rump, 1 tiel (I gave 2 to a friend) 2 budgies which I have kept and 3 more budgies still in another nest and 1 eastern rosella. Luckily the demon budgie didn't get to them as well. I have taken her out and put her into solitary confinement until I can look at her again.

This is the poor little begger that didn't survive the mothers attack. (Obviously a before shot) He/she was quite a pretty little budgie. We took the second babe from her and she still has one in the nest, so I am keeping a close eye on it, if she even looks like hurting the last little treasure I will take it from her.

They can be really sneaky. I took another female out of the cage when the eggs were first laid because she kept looking in the box. The demon one didn't ever show any interest (not while I was looking anyway).

I ended up taking the last baby from her, nasty piece of work was starting to get a bit picky. Mother has gone down again, this is the last time then the nest comes out.
