I have been breeding budgies for a lot of years and I have to admit they are really my favorite little bird, this last weekend i went out and purchased a couple of new hens a lovely yellow bird and a very nice pied both twelve months old and both nice big birds.
I introduced them to my budgie aviary and to my horror the yellow hen was immediately attacked by one of the cock birds, and boy do I mean attacked, if i hadn't intervened she would have been killed. This cock bird has always been a little suspect in as much he has been chasing another cockbird around the aviary attempting to mate and feed him, this on it's own was a bit of a worry
, but it is the first time he has ever showed aggressive behavior.
The bird he was chasing around the aviary was a lovely big grey and white pied, here is the funny bit, the pied is now the constant companion of the new yellow hen
and looks like they will become a pair .......oh well life is funny even among the gay community of birds.
The Blue that did all the attacking has been relocated and will be given to someone as a pet so everyone is happy now.
