hmmm in all honesty I have to say that (except for the yellow sided) I prefer the non mutation Green Cheek. Some birds the different colour mutations look great and suit the look of the bird (IRN & budgie to name 2) I just don't find the mutations all that attractive. Just my opinion.

oy may be a very light pied, i'm really unsure, but you would probably have to breed back to siblings/parents to keep the colour going.

I don't think it is that different from my guys, just a little less normal colour on the wings and a bit more blue but then again I don't have $1000 to buy it nor would I want to without viewing the bird

I asked Smiley about the gland for Suns and she said she hasn't done the suns this way but the males in Suns have slightly bigger heads and beaks. Nat has 2 pairs of Suns proven by this method.

Is there a possibility it could moult out?

Its possible Shaun. I think it would have to be test bred to see for sure. Would be interesting to know thou. I know with some unusual feather colouration in some species its an acquired colour and does moult out in the first year. I have seen this with the eclectus.

Or it can go the other way. When I got my Alex, the breeder said she sold a male ekkie and then after his first moult turned yellow and has stayed yellow...she had a pick of him too..cute!! So it's hard to take your chances on something that may change. My Green cheek has one bright yellow feather in her back and I don't know why, never seen it on any other green cheeks ive seen but then again that came after her one year moult and returns each moult now?

Yes your right there Courtzrock, as breeders we see a lot of strange colored feathers in our birds. How to explain it i haven't a clue. Some moult out, some stay and others after a moult like your little GCC. Think everyone is taking a lot more notice just in case they do have a mutation in the making. But it does get very exciting when a color is different.

What type of birds do you breed Robyn?

Hi Laraine, I breed Green Cheeks, Eclectus, Sun Conures, Quakers, but have the opportunity to hand rear different species for a couple of breeders.
