Charlie my resuce Quaker is now 7 weeks old and is learning to fly. We have learnt not to land on the BACK of the book shelf as that means we slide all the way down the back and get stuck and mum has to come and resuce us which is an hour long process (gap is now blocked off) We have also learnt that you do not attempt to land on the pictures hanging on the wall as that means that both you and the picture come crashing down to earth. We are learning however to recall! Ok so it's a bit shakey at the moment and normally means he launches himself off his cage flys around the room and they attempts to land on me normally aiming for the face hoping against hope that mum will catch him BEFORE we crash (we have crashed once when I misjudged his speed!). But still I have never had a bird recall on demand before and it's great!

well done Charlie! (except don't aim for mum's face as this will scratch her and humans don't appeciate the finesse of birds trying to land on their nose). hehe

Wish I had know this trick BEFORE he tried to land on every single one. I have put them all back up now and I think he had learned his lesson

You go Charlie! What a smart little bird I love watching birds fly around my lounge room. It is better than watching TV!
