I love redoing the cage setups for my guys - it's so much fun thinking up new ways of placing things.
The other week I found this awesome twine at Bunnings - it's 100% recycled paper that's twisted really really tightly to provide strength. Not treated with anything so fine for the birds to use, which meant I could string toys from different things to make better use of the cage space.
Here's Trouble's:
Behind his hut there's another rope perch with a couple of snuggly toys by it. His cholla perch is down the bottom hiding behind the bottlebrush tree clipping. He's got three foraging toys in there - the green round one up the top, his barrel of fun which is hanging off the side above the bottlebrush and the one hanging down the bottom. Unfortunately my brother dropped the ones I got from Lisa's store and they broke so I have to get replacements. >_<
I'm really happy with this setup - he's getting a lot more use out of all the space in the cage and is spending a decent amount of time at all levels.
Unfortunately the rope perch that's hung across the middle is probably going to have to be thrown out in the next six months or so as it's starting to not be able to be cleaned so well and isn't holding it's shape as well. I got it from Crazy Clarks down in Brisbane for like $6 and it's been great! It's an awesome length and can be shaped really well. Sadly the Crazy Clarks up here doesn't have them.
Tristan's:
He had a dowel perch and some natural ones that had most of the bark chewed off, so I took them all out and bought him some rope perches to replace them. I plan on finding him natural ones but a lot of the places nearby are either on major roads or get sprayed so I'm going to have to travel a bit.
He's using a lot more of the cage now as well, which is great. I thought he might have trouble adjusting to it because he does usually take a while to start exploring new things, but he only spent a couple of minutes sitting and looking around all before he started exploring. I've even spotted him playing with a couple of toys he's never used before that I moved around, which is great.
I'm going to be nagging my brother into buying him some new toys soon since what he has in the cage is pretty much all he's got, and they were all bought by me. Since Tristan won't be coming with me I want to make sure there's a nice selection of toys to be rotated for him before I move at the end of the year.
