Hi all, My name is Steve and I'm from the UK. I have been keeping birds all my life and still really enjoy and get alot of fun out of the hobby. At present i keep Java Sparrows, Fife Canaries, Chestnut breasted mannakins, Diamond Doves, Gouldians, Zebra's, Bengalese, Indian & African Silverbills. Spice Birds, Hecks grassfinches, Parson Finches, Kakariki's Parakeets. I also keep Chinese Painted Quails and have Napoleon & Red Billed Weavers. I also have my own website which was a good challenge for me because computers are not my strongest point. Also I should mention that I am West Ham United football fan and I am also keen on Norwich City FC. Enough said! Speak again soon!

Welcome aboard. Don't let the long distance between us keep you away from chatting with us. We welcome anyone here. Sounds like you have quite the family happening there. So what is the web-site address, I am sure we would all pop in for a look

Welcome Steve! Great selection of finches and smaller birds. Kakariki's! They don't seem to have a big fan base in Australia unfortunately but my other favourite forum has a very large kakariki fan base there. I wished I'd never swapped mine away, I just love their little "machine gun" laughter sounds. Such cheeky little monkeys they are!

Welcome to the group Steve, you have a nice mixed collection there. I particularly like the African Silverbills - not a showy species but full of personality and a constant nice call. Unfortunately they are getting rarer here in Australia and are in danger of dying out if we are not careful. I've always had admiration for finch birdkeepers in England, the cold winters must be a challenge to get them through and Norwich isn't the warmest part of the country in winter either We have it so easy here in Queensland where the birds can be outside all through the year and finches will in fact breed all through the winter. Look forward to hearing how you keep your birds, cheers, Mike

Hi everyone, thanks for the nice welcome. Thanks Robert & Precious for my website link. Hi Mike, Those African Silverbills thrive in the UK Climate. We have plenty of them around in our avairies. They breed quite easyily. I have pairs of normals but also have a pair of Chocolate Silverbills. Thanks everyone.

Hi Steve, and welcome along on the forum. Great to see a fellow bird-lover from across the Ocean. ;D
Your birds are beautiful, and I took a look at your website too, finding it informative and colourful.
I am fairly new to bird breeding and have a flock of 10 canaries (from one pair I had before last breeding season - hehe) and two quails. They are all presently indoors, while I get my big aviary constructed, then will be going outside.
Great to read about your birds and the care you take with them. Cheers, Shauna ;D
