Ok advice needed. The aviary that I have designed is based off this cgi.ebay.com.au/double-dog-run-cage-pen-kennel-enclosure_W0QQitemZ270385507053QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Pet_Supplies?hash=item3ef43b6aed&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262&_trkparms=|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A30Enclose the roof, add safty cage at the back with mess pannels and doors to access the flights. No access on the front and a kicker around the side and front. I am also going to ask for double wire in the middle so the Budgies can't ge to the love birds. Anyone have and suggestions or thoughts? Am I doing something wrong? Also how should I get the slab laid? What try of drainage do I need to get? Are these flights big enough for 10 love birds on one side coloney breeding? How many Budgies would I be able to keep in the other side (non breeding). I am starting to freak out as my tax refund cheque came today and I am now cashed up and ready to go but after the club committee meeting last night I am scared that I will get it wrong again!

AV, I checked out your link, That design would be great especially with a security area at the back. But i feel it may be just a bit small to colony breed lovies, but if your birds are already used to each other it should be ok. Plus you would need 1/2 inch mesh rather than 1 inch. Mice will be able to get in. A more square aviary would be more suitable especially once you hang 6 or so nest boxes. I know how mean love birds can be in breeding mode, so i think i would put up a solid wall between the two cages so little feet can't get bitten. I had a cage very much like that but only 1 flight same sort of design, 1/2 door in front. I bred love birds as well. My hubby laid a 4 inch slab concrete floor to which he dynabolted the cage to the concrete. That cage even stood up to a few cyclones as well. I think you have covered just about everything you want. Have you thought about the prefab aviaries from Bunnings, there are a few different sizes and you can also get dividers. Might be worth looking into. You know even i haven't got the aviaries that would be ideal for my eclectus, have been working on that one for years but hubby has really put his foot down.

My Love birds are all in a tiny avairy at the moment and get on fine, the older ones came out of an avairy that was about the same size as this and breed in it so I was thinking that this would be ok, but maybe I should rethink.... I was going to put a solid wall in but that means that it will get very dark in the love bird side as they will be close to a fence so I am thinking double wiring will be the best. I know the MAX I am allowed to have the concrete so maybe I will put that down and then hunt around for a better set up. I have looked at Bunnings but they don't seem to have them with Saftey cages so that is my biggest issue with them.

Know what you mean its hard to get a prefab with a safety area. I had to get my Hubby to build one onto my flights. I would be lost without it. In that case the double wiring would be the way to go, you don't want the birds not to have light. Sounds like you know what you want just a matter of putting it all together. You never know if you can bide your time you may just pick up exactly what your looking for.

It is a pity you live so far away AV. What you are wanting is so easy to build. If you cant weld, you can join it with plastic joiners which you can get from Bunnings. Have you thought of building it?
