Hi I have read a lot about feeding my alexandrines Organic Parrot Pellets. They have been brought up with seeds by the previous owner and also fruit and vegies. I was wondering if it is best to find some organic pellets, and where do I get them from. I am in Melbourne by the way. thanks

Mad about pets in Frentree Gully normally has them. I get my Dr Macs organic ones from the vet at Burwood (Highbury Rd Vet)

Shilohandpaulie most "GOOD" pet shops should carry a range of pellets... my boys are eating Vetafarm Maintenance pellets with a small amount of seed mixed in for a treat (no more than 5% of total volume with the pellets) and then fruit & vegies as well - of course One thing I've found as well is that my boys don't really eat the larger pellets that are marketed for the "bigger birds" they just crunch & drop the big pellets... but... they eat every last scrap of the smaller pellets... my Alexandrine (Hamlet) spent a few days at the vets & they gave him Harrisons pellets (large square pellets) & he didn;t eat them - just crunched & dropped... the vet was very worried that the wasn't eating... I got him home 2 days later & he scoffed all HIS food in a second...

I feed mine a mix of both, tropican seed mix (has pellets in it anyway and other bits and pieces) and Roudybush pellets..at the moment my alex is on the california blend of roudybush in the mini sized as well as her tropican and fruit and vegies. She also gets egg and biscuit every now and again cos she loves it. Tried vetafarm but they didnt really like it but each bird is different.
