Eclectus.
The cock bird is 2 1/2 and the hen is around 7. She has previously bred as i have been told but her partner died hence the new cock bird.
Just wondering if you have any tips for me on what to feed etc

I feed my birds fruit and veges every day. Eclectus diet is made up mostly of fruit. Seed and fresh water is available all day. Soaked seed is fed every day with the fruit mix. I am sure everybody here will be able to give you alot of advice. If you havent got it already, a copy of A guide to Eclectus parrots will let you know basically everything you need to know. I have also just looked into a supplement program by The author of the book, Dr Rob Marshall. www.birdhealth.com.au/bird/eclectus/programme.html Have a look around the site, there is more info on Eckies there. Shaun i did have all my birds on that programme a few years back. I found it ok but very expensive.
NW Red Rumps, if you take a look in the Feeding Posts you will find what we all feed our eccies. I feed mine pretty much the same as Shaun.
Congratulations on your new purchase, hope you get as much enjoyment from your Eclectus as i do

Mine also get mostly fresh fruit and veges with some seed from time to time. They get some almond nuts too (don't give shelled nuts anymore.....I used to though). Mine also get a bean/rice/legume cooked soft food mix too.

it is quite expensive Robyn, so hopefully will notice some change. Not there is anything wrong now. At present I sprinkle Ornithon on the fruit and veg mix with some days tracemin or calcivet instead.

thanks for the help i hope that they turn out a picture of health and are able to breed this year
what seeds do you sprout and what seed do you actually give them.
I have currently given mine pellets, peanuts, apples, carrot, brocolli, endive, and a few others they seem to enjoy it.
One thing i have noticed though is that they are quite birds except when they decide to make a noice then it gets loud.
The hen that we have is really friendly, we've had them for around 2 weeks now and she lets me pat her on the chest and neck while i'm in there with her. hopefully she doesn't get attached and does not get interested in the cock bird.

I sprout 50% sunflower and 50% hulled oats, and feed them small parrot mix with added sunflower. Their favourite is probably corn on the cob and apple. My pair might have a little surprise in the next box now. I heard some cheeping this afternoon......sshhh dont tell anyone yet though.

Lots of fruit, corn on the cob and parrot seed which sometimes get eaten quicker when soaked in water overnight? My mate managed to breed them last year they really are great birds and most probably the best looking hen Parrot around?
