does anyone use potted plants, like grasses or others, that can be put into any aviary for any length of time? I'm soon to be getting my own birds, instead of looking after other peoples. Im planning on doing the pot in the bottom of the cage thing but cant decide on plants to use. Ive done it when i lived in queensland using mesh to protect the bases of the plants so the birds can destroy the top and then remove to re-grow. ok im rambling. My question is what plants would be suited for birds like bourke parrots and scarlet chested parrots, keeping in mind i live in cold Mount Gambier?
Thanks for reading my rambling!!

I'd only use proper soil, someone I know used potting mix with some grasses they grew and the birds all died.

I use natural soil and have it in trays and then plant their seed and then you have a nice bushy section place that tray in the avairy they eat it all, remove tray and re plant. Once you get a system going you literally have a tray to put in every few weeks.
