This is sad alot of inbreeding. I always worry that i will end up being a horder as they can get themselves into terrible states. I just hope the Birds found new homes

I did read that about he started off with just 2 birds. I can not understand how people can hoard animals, as much as i love my babies even i know i can't keep everything i breed, not to mention the mess just a few make in an inside cage.

I've got 4 budgies inside, 3 of which have problems and can't go into the aviary. They are a bit messy but I love them.

The issue with Horders is that they see beyond the mess or they don't see it at all. I worked with some horders while I was doing my counselling and even when their floors where caked in animal waste and there where dead animals they could not see the issue. Or they get to the point where they don't know where to start to try and clean up the mess. this is one of my greatest fears as when most women are feeling down they head for food or go buy something like shoes or have something they like to do to pick their spirits up well I go look at petshops and petlink and work out where I am going to put X new birds..... I have had to put caps on myself. I am alright with selling ones I breed but given the chance I could end up with about 100 living in my house.

Yeah i guess your right AV but its still hard to comprehend that things have to get so bad before the poor man got help.
But NO i can't imagine you in that situation. You care to much & you would never take on any more than you could comfortably keep. You would be worrying to much about the feeding & Vet bills of the birds to ever let it get like that.
Don't worry i have a fetish for coffee cups. For some reason if i see one i like i have to have it. Had to give myself a good talking to, how many coffee cups do i really need, so now i don't even look in the kitchenware when out shopping.

OK fess up about the coffee cups i have 69 plus the 4 i really liked that belonged with a dinner set so i bought the lot. That was my last purchase about a year ago. Does that make me nearly a horder? Robyn

Basically you would be classed as a horder if you can't throw any of them out (even if they are broken you keep all the bits and we are not talking about just breaking a handle off) and also if they become an major factor in your day to day life... oh wait ok nope my birds are not a major factor.....

I must admit I'm a bit of a horder, keeping things that might come in handy one day. I am tempted to keep my baby budgies when they are nice colours, but sold 4 babies last Saturday (but kept a yellow face blue which I haven't had before). I've got orders for ones that haven't hatched yet, so that might solve the problem of keeping any more.
